Dayton Dragons News Release

Dayton, OH - The Cincinnati Reds have assigned INF Angel Colon to the Dayton Dragons active roster. Colon joins the Dragons from extended spring training in Sarasota, Florida and will give the Dragons depth at first base. To make room for Colon, a 35th round selection in the 2005 First Year Player Draft out of Iowa Wesleyan College, the Reds have placed 1B J.D. Roberts on the disabled list with a pulled hamstring. Roberts injured the leg in the Dragons game vs. Kane County at Fifth Third Field on Friday, April 21st. At the time of the injury, Roberts was hitting .154 in eight games with no home runs and one run batted in. Colon, in his first full season of professional baseball in 2005, hit .255 in 47 games with the GCL Reds. Colon split time between first and third base, appearing in 20 games at first and 18 at the "hot corner." He will be in uniform and is active for the Dragons final game of the four game series with Kane County at Fifth Third Field on Monday night.
