South Bend Silver Hawks News Release
South Bend - Wisconsin Timber Rattlers left-handed relief pitcher Harold Williams is all elbows and arms when he throws from the mound to the plate. In his appearance against the South Bend Silver Hawks on Saturday, the lanky Southpaw lasted two-thirds of an inning and uncorked a pair of wild pitches. Monday night, Williams was outstanding, throwing two and two-third innings, while striking out five in an 8-4 win for the Timber Rattlers.
The Rattlers got things going in the first three frames, scoring once in the first, three times in the second and twice in the third.
In their three run second, Bryan Sabatella opened with a walk and moved to second on a base hit by Alex Gary's single to right field. Robby Hudson reached on a fielder's choice with Gary moving to second. Jeffrey Dominguez then singled to center field to load the bases. With Luis Valbuena batting, Silver Hawks starter Ramon Sanchez balked home Gary for a Wisconsin 2-1 lead, while Robby Hudson advanced to third and Dominguez to second. After Valbuena struck out, Ron Garth's infield single to the left side brought Hudson home and moved Dominguez third for a 3-1 Rattlers lead. Sanchez then threw a wild pitch scoring Dominguez with Wisconsin holding a 4-1 advantage after two.
The Hawks scored solo runs in the fourth and fifth, but The Rattlers countered with single runs in their half of innings seven and eight.
The Hawks attempted to rally in the ninth, scoring a run on a sacrifice fly by Pedro Ciriaco, but after Justin Upton walked with two out and stole second, placing runners at second and third with two out, Bryan Byrne struck out swinging to end the Hawks threat and game.
Paul Fagan (1-1) gets the win and Ramon Sanchez (0-4) suffers the loss.
The Silver Hawks open a four game set on Tuesday as they welcome the Clinton Lumberkings to the Cove. First pitch scheduled for 6:30 P.M and gates opening at 5:30 PM.
