Burlington Bees News Release

Burlington, IA (April 24, 2006) - The Kansas City Royals and Burlington Bees announce that LHP Eliezer Garcia has been activated from the disabled list and LHP Adam Kalkhof has been given his release from the organization. These changes are effective immediately and Garcia will be available out of the bullpen for the Bees' game tonight in Peoria.

Garcia went on the DL on April 17th with a severe sore throat and fatigue. His last outing was April 14th against Beloit. Through three appearances this year, he is 0-1 with a 1.29 ERA and one save. Kalkhof has made four appearances so far this season and hadn't allowed a run in 3.2 innings pitched. The Royals acquired Kalkhof last year as a non-drafted free agent out of the University of North Carolina.

The Bees look to snap a four-game losing streak and avoid a sweep at O'Brien Field in Peoria tonight. RH David Henninger (1-0, 4.50) will start for the Bees. Game time is 6:30 and the game will be broadcast live on KBUR AM 1490 and KBKB AM 1360 with the pre-game show starting at 6:10. The Bees will head to Battle Creek, MI following tonight's game and start a four-game series with the Southwest Michigan Devil Rays tomorrow night.
