FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The TinCaps swept a doubleheader against the Lake County Captains (Guardians affiliate) on Saturday afternoon at Parkview Field. Fort Wayne walked off to win 4-3 in the opener and then posted a 3-0 shutout victory for the team's first two home wins of the season.
In the first game, the TinCaps (3-4) trailed 3-1 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, the final frame in Minor League Baseball doubleheaders. Shortstop Jarryd Dale hit an RBI triple, center fielder Homer Bush Jr. (No. 11 Padres prospect) knocked a game-tying single, and then right fielder Tyler Robertson delivered a walk-off single to left field.
After the Lake County (4-3) had taken a 1-0 lead in the second, Fort Wayne third baseman Devin Ortiz had tied the game with a two-out RBI double in the fourth. The Captains then retook the lead in the sixth.
TinCaps starter Dylan Lesko (No. 4 Padres prospect) struck out four in three innings with only one hit allowed.
Robertson had three hits, including a double, while Ortiz hit his second double of the game to spark the seventh-inning rally.
Then in the second game, Fort Wayne jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first as designated hitter Griffin Doersching and Robertson both tallied RBI doubles. Doersching added a solo homer in the sixth. He finished a triple shy of the cycle.
