ABOUT LAST NIGHT: With the Indianapolis Indians down to their last strike in the bottom of the 10th inning, Rodolfo Castro and Diego Castillo went back-to-back with hard-hit line drives to defeat the Louisville Bats in walk-off fashion on Tuesday night, 5-4. Castro and Castillo were central in both beginning and ending the game for the Indians. Castro ignited the offense with a triple on T.J. Zeuch's first pitch of the game, and Castillo followed with a run-scoring ground-out. Following a two-out, towering home run off the bat of Jose Barrero in the top of the 10th to give Louisville a lead, Indianapolis was quickly down to its last out following two punchouts by Pedro Payano to open the final offensive half. On an 0-2 count, Castro continued a hot stretch at the plate with a game-tying double into the right-field corner to plate Mason Martin. Castillo, also with two strikes on him, then roped a line drive up the middle to notch the Indians' seventh walk-off victory this season.

DIEGO'S DIMES: Diego Castillo, playing in his first Triple-A game this season after being optioned by Pittsburgh on Sunday, went 1-for-5 with two RBI last night. He scored the Indians' first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning following Rodolfo Castro's leadoff triple. With two outs and two strikes and the game-winning run on second base, he roped a single over the shortstop's outstretched glove to give Indianapolis a walk-off win. It was his first Triple-A walk-off hit and the Indians' seventh this season after recording 10 in 2021.

CASTRO CLUBS IT: Rodolfo Castro was central to the Indians offensive efforts last night, going 2-for-5 with a triple early and a double late to score the first and final runs of the ballgame. The infielder is currently working a six-game hitting streak and has hit safely in nine of his last 10, six of which have been two-hit performances. Since 7/16, Castro is hitting .341 (15-for-44) with three doubles, a triple, two home runs and more runs scored (6) than driven in (5). The switch-hitter has been on a tear dating back to July 1, and in his past 21 games he has seven multi-hit games and a .291 average (25-for-86) and .856 OPS.

CHECK OUT THE VIEAUX: Cam Vieaux extended his winning streak to a career-high five games last night after surrendering one hit (a go-ahead solo home run to Jose Barrero) in 2.0 innings. Since 4/26, the southpaw is 5-0 with a 1.76 ERA (6er/30.2ip), 0.65 WHIP and .120 average against (12-for-100). His previous career-high winning streak came from 6/27-7/19/18 with Double-A Altoona when he went 4-0 in a five-start span. Vieaux has yet to suffer a loss this season between both Indianapolis and Pittsburgh and has only been scored upon in eight of his 25 appearances (one start) in Triple-A this season.

TODAY: The Indians are working a two-game winning streak and will look to extend to four games in a doubleheader today at Victory Field. The two teams have faced off five times so far this season, with the Bats dominating the first rain-shortened series from 5/3-8, 4-1. To kick off the doubleheader, Miguel Yajure will take the mound for his second start against Louisville this season. On 5/8, Yajure yielded just one hit and fanned five of seven total batters faced. Countering for the Bats will be Justin Dunn, making his first career appearance against Indianapolis. In the nightcap, Deck McGuire will take the mound for his second career start against Indy, his first coming during his Triple-A debut on 5/26/14 (W, 5.2ip, 6h, 2r, 2er, 2bb, 2k).

DOUBLEHEADERS: The Indians have played a trio of doubleheaders this season and have split each of them. In those games, they have outscored their opponents 36-32. Following today's doubleheader, the Indians have two remaining twinbills so far on their schedule: on 9/7 at Omaha and 9/27 at Columbus.

MATSON MATTERS: Southpaw Zach Matson has been a jack of all trades for Indianapolis over the past month and has done an effective job of it, registering a 0.00 ERA (9.2ip) with just one unearned run allowed over his last eight appearances (four starts). In that time span, he's been dominating opposing batters with a .125 average against (4-for-32) and 1.03 WHIP. To begin his Triple-A career, he was tagged for 10 earned runs over his first eight appearances (three starts). There's a strong contrast in his stats between seven starts and nine relief appearances, the splits of which are listed below:

Starter: 0-1, 5.23 ERA, 10.1ip, 12h, 7r, 6er, 5bb, 8k, 1.65 WHIP, .279 AVG

Reliever: 0-0, 3.38 ERA, 10.2ip, 6h, 4r, 4er, 8bb, 4k, 1.31 WHIP, .167 AVG

THIS DAY IN 2018: With a 3-1 lead at Toledo, Wyatt Mathisen hit his first career grand slam to give the Indians insurance runs in what would be a 12-7 win over the IL West rival. The blast proved useful, too, as the Indians surrendered five runs in the bottom half of the inning but still held a lead. Pablo Reyes also contributed to the offense, notching his second four-hit game of the season and seventh of his career as he finished a double shy of the cycle and drove in two runs of his own. The Indians bullpen combined for 4.2 innings of one-run work to hold Toledo at bay after the five-run outburst.
