Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release
MOOSIC, PA - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (52-49) evened the series against the Buffalo Bisons with a 5-2 win on Wednesday night. Tyler Wade reached base three times and hit his first RailRiders home run since 2019.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre struck for four in an eight-batter third inning. After being held scoreless through the first eleven innings of the series, Chris Owings broke the scoreless affair with a double off left fielder Logan Warmoth's glove for a 1-0 lead. Oswald Peraza and Josh Breaux would plate runs with singles before Ben Rortvedt made it 4-0 with a sacrifice fly.
Buffalo responded in the fourth inning with Cullen Large's fifth homer of the year. Wade got that solo run right back in the bottom of the frame with his home run with the RailRiders this season. It was his 100th career Triple-A RBI.
The Bisons mustered a run in the top of the seventh to make it 5-2. Greg Weissert entered the ballgame with one out in the eighth with the tying run at the plate. The RailRiders' closer got two quick outs to end the threat.
Shane Greene (2-1) pitched two innings of relief for the win. Bowden Francis (5-8) took the loss after a three-inning start. Weissert tallied his 14th save of the season and pushed his scoreless streak to 18 games and 19.0 innings.
The series continues on Thursday night at 6:35 PM when Matt Krook (6-7, 4.37) takes the mound. Tickets and details are available at swbrailriders.com.
