ABOUT LAST NIGHT: Last night's postponed game marked the Indians eighth of the season. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader at AutoZone Park today, with Game 1 scheduled for 6:05 PM ET. Game 2 will begin 30 minutes following the conclusion of the opener, with both games set as seven-inning affairs.

DOUBLEHEADERS: The Indians have played four doubleheaders this season and have split each of them. In those games, they have outscored their opponents 46-44. Following today's doubleheader, the Indians have two remaining twinbills on their schedule: 9/7 at Omaha and 9/27 at Columbus.

ABOUT TUESDAY NIGHT: After a one hour and five-minute rain delay prior to first pitch, the Redbirds broke open a lead with a four-run outpour in the bottom of the fourth inning and never trailed to best Indianapolis in the series-opener on Tuesday night, 5-1. With one out and runners on second and third, Delvin Perez grounded a ball up the middle to score both runners. Kramer Robertson capped the inning with a two-run homer off starting pitcher Miguel Yajure to make it a 4-0 Redbirds advantage. Memphis starter Thomas Parsons did not allow a hit through 5.1 innings before a Jared Oliva bloop single broke up the no-hit bid. After Parsons exited the contest after six, a one-out walk drawn by Jack Suwinski set the table for Indians' lone run of the contest. Brendt Citta singled down the right-field line to put runners on the corners, and Mason Martin grounded into a fielder's choice to score Suwinski and make it a 4-1 deficit. Memphis got that run back in their following at bat.

SERIES-OPENING SPLITS: Tuesday night was the first time since June 14 at Gwinnett that the Indians have lost the first game of a six-game series. On Tuesday nights, they are 11-6 with a record of 12-7 in Game 1 of a series. The Indians are above .500 in the first, fourth (11-6) and sixth (10-3) game of a series, with Tuesday and Sunday (11-5) marking their best day of the week. Last season, the Indians finished above .500 on Tuesdays (11-9), Fridays (14-8), and Saturdays (12-8), and Game 1 (12-10), Game 5 (14-7) and Game 7 (1-0).

DUGOUT HOPPING: Johan Oviedo, who was traded to Pittsburgh as part of a package that sent Jose Quintana and former Indianapolis Indian Chris Stratton to St. Louis on Aug. 2, made his Pirates organization debut last night against his former Triple-A team. Facing the Redbirds in a ballpark he used to call home, Oviedo surrendered one hit over 1.0 scoreless frame. Prior to being traded, he split the season between Memphis (as a starter) and St. Louis (as a reliever). In 14 appearances (one start) in the big leagues, he went 2-1 with a 3.20 ERA (9er/25.1ip) and 26 strikeouts. That comes in stark contrast to his minor league starting numbers as he went 4-2 with a 5.58 ERA (31er/50.0ip) and 51 strikeouts in 10 starts with Memphis. Oviedo was in the big leagues at the time of the trade and had not given up multiple runs in an outing since June 4 (2) at Chicago (NL).

MARTIN MAKES IT ON BASE: Mason Martin drove in the Indians lone run of the game Tuesday night by putting the ball into play on a fielder's choice. he has been seeing the ball well to begin the month of August, hitting .360 (9-for-25) with six runs scored, three doubles, four RBI and almost as many walks (6) as strikeouts (7). The heavy hitter has been improving his walk rate since the end of July, and now has 10 walks and only 10 strikeouts in his last 11 games.

TODAY, GAME 1: After taking five of seven games against Louisville last week at Victory Field, the Indians will look to bounce back from a series-opening loss Tuesday night at Memphis in today's twinbill. From June 21-26, the Indians and Redbirds split their first six-game series at Victory Field. Since 2021, which was the first time in history that the two teams met in the regular season, the Indians hold an 8-6 record against Memphis. To kick off the doubleheader, Roansy Contreras will take the mound for his ninth start of the season with Indy. On 8/5 vs. Lousiville, Contreras struck out a season-high nine batters in 4.0 innings of one-run ball. His nine punchouts was his most since 6/15/21 for Double-A Altoona vs. Erie. Countering for the Redbirds will be major league rehabber Jack Flaherty, who appeared with Memphis once in June on a separate rehab assignment and took a loss (4.0ip, 1h, 1r, 1er, 1hr, 6k).

TODAY, GAME 2: In the nightcap, Osvaldo Bido will make his team-leading 18th start in 24 appearances. Last Thursday vs. Louisville, Bido led the Indians pitching staff to a then-season-high 15 strikeouts, which the team bested the very next day. Recording eight of the 15 strikeouts. LHP Connor Thomas will take the bump for Memphis in Game 2, he is 5-5 with a 4.65 ERA (47er/91.0ip) and 81 strikeouts. He threw 2.0 innings against Indy on 6/26, allowing one run on two hits, two walks and two strikeouts.

THIS DAY IN 2017: Tyler Glasnow improved to 8-0 on the season after slinging 7.0 one-run innings with 11 strikeouts vs. Syracuse. It was his sixth of seven double-digit strikeout games for the young right-hander, with the last coming in his next start on Aug. 17 when he fanned 10. His nine total double-digit strikeout games in an Indians uniform is the most by a pitcher in the Victory Field era. Glasnow led the team with 140 strikeouts over the course of the season and finished with a 1.93 ERA (20er/93.1ip).
