ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Round Rock Donuts (14-6 | 58-36) earned yet another one-run win in a 4-3 victory over the Reno Aces (9-11 | 53-42) at Dell Diamond on Saturday night to secure, at minimum, the series split.
Round Rock reliever RHP Marc Church (3-0, 3.20) earned the win after 2.0 scoreless innings that did not include a hit but saw two walks. Reno reliever LHP Andrew Saalfrank (0-1, 4.09) recorded his first loss of the season after allowing one run and two hits with one strikeout in the eighth inning.
Along the Train Tracks:
The Donuts scored first and took a 1-0 lead in the third inning after SS Jonathan Ornelas doubled and stole a base before getting knocked in on a single from 2B Dio Arias.
In both the fifth and sixth innings, Reno launched solo home runs after RF Tristin English hit a bomb in the fifth and tied the game at one. DH Kyle Lewis ripped a solo shot and gave the visitors a 2-1 lead.
Round Rock tied it up at two in the sixth inning with a solo home run from CF Bubba Thompson. They took a 3-2 lead after 3B Justin Foscue reached on a fielding error by LHP Konnor Pilkington and scored on a triple from 1B Blaine Crim.
Reno did not let the lead last long and tied the game back up at 3-3 in the seventh inning. CF Dominic Fletcher belted a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded after Donuts RHP Fer Ozuna allowed the first three batters to reach.
For the Donuts, Thompson doubled with two outs in the eighth inning and scored on a single from Foscue. Round Rock RHP Marc Church pitched a scoreless ninth to secure the 4-3 victory.
