PCL Salt Lake Bees

Bats Quiet on Saturday Night

July 22, 2023 - Pacific Coast League (PCL)
Salt Lake Bees News Release

Bees' starter and PCL strikeout leader Kenny Rosenberg extended his league lead in punchouts with a seven-strikeout performance, but the Salt Lake Bees (9-11) fell to the Las Vegas Aviators (12-8) 5-1 in front of 8,551 fans at Smith's Ballpark.

Rosenberg was effective on the mound but was outdueled as the Bees bats were quiet all night. Salt Lake tallied just three hits as Rosenberg earned his sixth loss of the year in an outing where he struck out five or more batters for the 11th consecutive time. Las Vegas slowly chipped away at Salt Lake, taking an early lead with a first inning unearned run and following it up with two more in the second, another in the fourth and a final run in the eighth.

Livan Soto was the lone bright spot for Salt Lake's offense, going two-for-three with a solo homer to score the only Bees run, his first career Triple-A home run. PCL steals leader Jordyn Adams added two steals to his season ledger, extending his streak of consecutive swipes without being caught to 19, just two shy of tying the franchise record. Aside from Soto, Brett Phillips was the only Bee to register a hit as Vegas starter Zack Godley went 6.2 innings with one earned run and six strikeouts.

The Bees and Aviators will square off for the finale of their six-game series tomorrow on a fireworks night at Smith's Ballpark.
