Aces Fall Late in Nailbiter with Express

July 22, 2023 - Pacific Coast League (PCL)
Reno Aces News Release

Round Rock, TX - The Reno Aces (9-11, 53-42) surrendered a late two-out, go-ahead double in a 4-3 loss to the Round Rock Express (14-5, 58-36) Saturday night at Dell Diamond.

In another tight affair, the Aces received five stout innings from Nabil Crismatt, who made his first Minor League start since 2019. Crismatt allowed just two earned runs while striking out three and walking only one, leaning on a devastating changeup, a low-90s fastball, and an effective curveball for seven total swings and misses.

Tristin English pulled a monstrous blast to tie the contest at one in the fifth, his team-leading sixth homer since June 1st. Kyle Lewis hit a clutch bomb an inning later, giving the Aces a brief one run lead. Lewis went 3-for-3 with the homer, two singles, and a walk. Adrian Del Castillo recorded both his first Triple-A extra-base hit and multi-hit game with a single and a double.

Even with a handful of offensive highlights, Reno has scored three runs or less in four straight games. It's the longest such streak of the season for the Aces, who went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left a whopping 19 runners on base in Saturday's crushing loss.

The Aces and Express conclude their series Sunday night at 4:05 p.m. PT at Dell Diamond.
