Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release
GARY, Ind. - The Gary SouthShore RailCats and the American Red Cross team up to help give a boost to the low blood-giving levels currently in Northwest Indiana by holding a blood drive in the Diamond Club from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, July 23. All who donate will also receive free flex tickets valid for redemption at any 2011 RailCats regular season home game.
During the summer months, a decline in blood donations is typical as donors become busy with seasonal activities and overlook donating blood, which is why the American Red Cross is calling all RailCats fans to give if possible. Locally, the Red Cross must collect 450 units of blood each day in order to meet patient needs. Blood supplies at the American Red Cross and throughout the country are at critical low levels this summer, and the demand for blood is outpacing the donations received. There is no better way to honor those from our military while earning tickets to a baseball game then by giving blood for the Red Cross with the RailCats.
The blood drive will run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Diamond Club at U. S. Steel Yard before and throughout the 7:10 p.m. game between the RailCats and their rival, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. Located just beyond right field fence, the completely-renovated Diamond Club serves as a home to the largest groups (up to 300 people) at RailCats games as well as a fully-customizable banquet facility.
For more information on the American Red Cross Blood Drive at U. S. Steel Yard, contact RailCats Account Executive Nikki Kimbrough at (219)882-2255. Appointments are strongly encouraged and can be made by filling out the online form at https://www.givelife.org/index.cfm'groupregistration&hlcussteelyard.
The blood drive is also fitting on this night since the RailCats will be honoring those who serve, with Military Night at U. S. Steel Yard. The first 1,000 kids entering the ballpark will also receive a backpack in the shape of a catcher's chest protector courtesy of First Midwest Bank and the Post-Tribune so if you're unable to give blood and earn free tickets, call the 'Cats at 219.882.2255 or visit www.railcatsbaseball.com to purchase your tickets now!
