
Dominik Masin, Matthew Spencer and Jonne Tammela Join Syracuse Crunch

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Crunch have signed defensemen Dominik Masin and Matthew Spencer along with forward Jonne Tammela to amateur try-out contracts, general manager Julien BriseBois announced today.
Masin, 20, appeared in 50 games with the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League this season, tallying 40 points and 50 penalty minutes along with a plus-24 rating. He led Petes defensemen in goals and total points. Over two seasons with Peterborough, the Mestec Kralove, Czech Republic native has totaled 66 points (15g, 51a) and 120 penalty minutes in 105 contests.
In 2014, the 6-foot-3, 198-pound defenseman recorded three assists and claimed silver at the IIHF World Junior Championship with the Czech Republic U18 team.
Masin was selected in the second round, 35th overall, by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Spencer, 19, put up 24 points (5g, 19a) and 46 penalty minutes in 60 games with Peterborough as an alternate captain this season. His five goals were second among Petes defensemen. He was third among defensemen in total points.
The Oakville, Ontario native has registered 69 points (12g, 57a) and 143 penalty minutes in 191 games with Peterborough from 2013 to 2016.
Spencer, 6-foot-1, 207 pounds, was selected in the second round, 44th overall, by the Lightning in 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
Tammela, 18, has skated in 37 games with Kalpa of the SM-liiga league in Finland, posting five goals and 13 points to go along with 16 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound forward also appeared in three playoff games with Kalpa, registering two penalty minutes. Tammela has played in 69 games with Kalpa over the past two seasons, notching nine goals and 17 points.
The Espoo, Finland native also played for the Finnish U-20 team, skating in seven games with the club while posting a goal and four points. Tammela was selected by the Lightning in the fourth round, 118th overall, at the 2015 NHL Draft and signed to a three-year, NHL entry-level contract with the team on April 1.
