
Dogs shut out the Crunch

HAMILTON, ON - Yann Danis was perfect, making 36 saves on 36 shots in the Hamilton Bulldogs 3-0 shutout victory over the Syracuse Crunch on Friday night at Copps Coliseum.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 2:27 of the first period when forward Tomas Plekanec posted his team leading 16th goal of the season. Chris Higgins put a high centering pass through the crease and Plekanec batted the puck out of mid-air to beat Crunch goaltender Karl Goehring.
After a scoreless second frame, Plekanec and Higgins connected again at 2:44 of the third period. Higgins took a drop pass from Plekanec and snapped a high shot into the top corner to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead. Dan Jancevski also picked up an assist on Higgins 11th goal of the season.
The Bulldogs took a 3-0 lead when Higgins scored his second goal of the game into an empty net at 18:01 of the third period. Gavin Morgan and Jancevski posted assists on the goal that sealed the win for the Bulldogs.
Less than 24 hours after being named to the Planet USA All-star team in this years Dodge AHL All-star classic, Tomas Plekanec had the game winning goal and added an assist in the Bulldogs 19th win of the season. The Bulldogs record after 47 games improves to 19-19-5-4.
The shots were dead even at 36 aside. Neither team was successful on the powerplay, with Hamilton going 0-5 and Syracuse 0-6.
The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow night when the Rochester Americans visit Copps Coliseum.
