Pirates Sign Kirk Daubenspeck

PORTLAND, ME – Portland Pirates Head Coach Tim Army announced today that goalie Kirk Daubenspeck has signed a Professional Try Out with the Pirates and will join the team for the Pirates game versus the Manchester Monarchs tonight at 7:35 p.m. in Manchester, NH.

Daubenspeck started the season with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL. He played in 24 games for the Stingrays posting a 2.26 GAA and a .936 SV% and a record of 12-9-3 at the time of the transaction.

Last season, Daubenspeck played a majority of his time with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL and one game with the Worcester IceCats of the AHL. In 47 games with the Stingrays he posted a 2.66 GAA and a .920 SV% with a record of 29-15-2. In 2002-03, he played in 58 games for the South Carolina Stingrays, he posted a 2.90 GAA and a .915 SV% for a record of 36 wins, 16 losses and 6 ties during that span. Before turning pro, he played four years at the University of Wisconsin and was named the winner of the Spike Carlson Award as the team MVP in 1996 and 1997.
