Chicago Dogs News Release

CLEBURNE, Tex. - Ryan Lidge lit up Cleburne on Tuesday night, going 5-for-5 with five RBI as the Chicago Dogs held off a late charge to win the series opener over the Cleburne RailRoaders, 11-9.

Lidge also scored three runs and mashed two doubles, as the Dogs opened up a 9-3 lead after five and a half innings. Josh Altmann belted career home run No. 100 after Lidge's fourth hit, a three-run shot to make it 9-3 in the sixth inning. But Cleburne stormed back and even brought the potential tying run to second base in the bottom of the ninth inning after four singles.

Stellar defensive plays by both Altmann at shortstop (a backhand pick and laser throw to first) and Metzger in left field (a sliding catch) secured the win for Chicago.

Ryan O'Reilly started the game for the game for the Dogs and earned the win with five innings pitched and only three runs (two earned) allowed. Cleburne's Riley Smith took the loss, as nine of the Dogs' 11 runs came off Smith.

The 11 runs and 14 hits are both season highs for the Dogs, who improved to 7-3 with the win, taking over first place in the East Division.

Jake Dahlberg will start tomorrow at 7:06 PM for Game Two at Cleburne. The broadcast will be available at both aabaseball.tv and the Dogs Radio Network.
