
Dobbins Dominant in 10-7 Win Over Binghamton

Binghamton, New York- The Portland Sea Dogs (21-20, 61-49) take second-straight with 10-7 win over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (19-21, 54-55) on Wednesday night.
Hunter Dobbins tied a career-high after firing 7.0 innings allowing just one run on five hits while striking out eight. He did not issue a walk in his eighth start for Portland. Elih Marrero blasted his first homer of the season going three-for-three at the plate before Phillip Sikes launched his seventh homer of the season. Chase Meidroth and Nick Yorke both recorded three-run doubles while Brainer Bonaci extended an eight-game hitting streak with a single in the eighth.
Binghamton took the 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first after an RBI single from JT Schwartz.
Meidroth put Portland on top 3-1 in the top of the third with a bases-clearing double (11) to right field.
Marrero launched his first homer of the season in the top of the fourth inning. The solo shot to center field extended the 4-1 Portland lead.
Sikes blasted a homer of his own in the top of the fifth inning to record his seventh of the season. With the three-run shot to left field, Portland continued to lead 7-1.
Yorke added three more runs in the top of the eighth after a bases-clearing double (17) made it 10-1 Sea Dogs.
Binghamton scored six runs on three hits in the bottom of the eighth inning but Portland held on to a 10-7 lead as Luis Guerrero recorded his sixteenth save of the season with a scoreless 1.1 innings in relief.
Portland starter RHP Hunter Dobbins (3-4, 4.98 ERA) earned the win after pitching 7.0 innings allowing one run on five hits while striking out eight. He did not issue a walk. The save was awarded to Luis Guerrero (16) after pitching 1.1 innings allowing two hits while striking out two. He did not issue a walk. The loss was issued to Binghamton starter RHP Tyler Stuart (2-2, 4.34 ERA) after pitching 3.0 innings allowing three runs on three hits while walking three and striking out six.
The Sea Dogs return to Mirabito Stadium tomorrow, August 17th, 2023 for game three of a six-game series against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. First pitch for game three is slated for 6:35pm. Portland will start RHP Chih-Jung Liu (5-7, 5.23 ERA) while Binghamton will send RHP Luis Moreno ((7-5, 4.91 ERA) to the mound.
