Diamond Jaxx Trump Lookouts, 5-2

August 24, 2007 - Southern League (SL1)
Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Before a sellout crowd in their regular season home game finale, the Lookouts struggled to figure out West Tennessee starting pitcher Andy Baldwin. Additionally, a costly Lookouts' error and timely Diamond Jaxx hitting contributed to a 5-2 win for West Tennessee at AT&T Field in Friday night action.

After a quick first inning, West Tennessee entered the scoreboard in the top of the second. With two walks, Johnny Cueto issued a walk to Michael Saunders. Erick Monzon stepped-up to the plate and hit a grounder to third baseman Caonabo Cosme, who muffed the grounder and threw to second in haste. The throw, which was not in time, was handled cleanly by second baseman Drew Anderson, but Anderson proceeded to make an errant throw to first, resulting in a run for the Diamond Jaxx. With Monzon now on second, Rene Rivera followed with a ground rule double, giving West Tennessee a 2-0 lead.

The Diamond Jaxx tacked-on another run in the third on a Marshall Hubbard sac fly.

Chattanooga would finally put together a rally in the fourth. Jose Castro began the inning with a double and would score on a Shaun Cumberland single. Drew Anderson followed with an RBI double to put the score at 3-2.

The Lookouts would not salvage another run for the remainder of the game, and the Diamond Jaxx would add an insurance run in both the fifth and eighth inning to put the score at its final resting place, 5-2.

The Lookouts will hit the road for a five-game series against the Tennessee Smokies, tomorrow. Grazie.
