Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release

EL PASO, Texas - The Diablos came back from a four-run deficit to beat the RailCats 6-5 on a walk-off double by first baseman Jonathan Cisneros in the ninth inning on Sunday night. The first-place RailCats (10-6) took two of three in the series.

Brian Joynt led off the ninth with a single on the first pitch he saw from RailCats' reliever Marco Gonzalez (0-1). Cisneros worked the count full before hitting a high chopper over the head of Gary first baseman Steve Liddle and down the right field line. Joynt was running on the pitch and came home with the winning run.

For the third straight game, the RailCats jumped on the board in the first inning. With two out and the bases clear, Cristian Guerrero singled to center, snapping an 0-for-26 slump. Craig Maddox walked and Steve Liddle belted a two-run double off the wall in left-center. Brian Kolb followed with a single to plate Liddle and make it 3-0.

In the third, Drew Martinez hit a grounder to score Liddle and also reached base on an error. Guerrero's run-scoring single in the fourth put the RailCats ahead 5-0.

El Paso pulled a run back in the third on a two-out triple by Edgar Corcino against RailCats starter Will Krout that brought home Miguel Chacoa. It ended a string of 14 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings for RailCats starting pitchers.

The Diablos tied it with four runs in the fifth. Corcino hit an RBI single and then a run scored on a throwing error by second baseman Ryan Miller. With two out, Jonathan Cisneros hit an RBI double and Mitch Einertson brought him home with a single to tie the game at five. Krout was charged with five runs in 5 2/3 innings in the no-decision.

El Paso starter Luis Chirinos gave up five runs in five frames in the no-decision. Mike Koons (1-0) pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the victory.

The RailCats will travel to Amarillo and start a three-game series on Monday night at 7:05. RailCats left-hander Alain Quijano (3-0, 3.09) will take the ball against Sox righty Joe Newby (0-2, 7.80).
