Sioux Falls 11, Wichita 6
The middle of the Sioux Falls order was electric to say the least in an 11-6 win over Wichita. Jared Clark, John Alonso and Tim Pahuta combined for five home runs and nine RBI, batting in the three, four and five spots in the Canaries' order. Clark and Pahuta each hit a pair of homers, while Clark led the club with four RBI. Pahuta contributed three RBI and Alonso drove in two. The Canaries' top offensive performers hit a collective 7-for-10 on the afternoon.
Fargo-Moorhead 4, Winnipeg 3
A wild pitch and a Tim Alberts solo home run flipped the script in Fargo-Moorhead's favor in the seventh inning against Winnipeg. The RedHawks trailed the Goldeyes 3-2 heading into the frame, but SS Zach Penprase put Fargo-Moorhead in position to come back. He reached first base on an error to open up the inning, then stole second and third before scoring the tying run on a wild pitch. Two batters later, Alberts went deep to give the RedHawks the lead. Winnipeg nearly made a comeback of its own, putting runners on the corners in the ninth. But, RHP Chris Johnson sealed the win with his fourth save.
Quebec 6, St. Paul 3
Capitales RHP Jeff Duda held the dangerous St. Paul offense at bay, leading Quebec to a 6-3 victory. The Saints entered the game with the third best offense in the American Association, but Duda kept them to one run and seven hits over seven innings of work. The Capitales' starter struck out four and walked one to improve to 2-0 on the Can-Am League season. Quebec has lost just once in Duda's four starts. On the offensive side, 1B Josue Peley had the most consistent day at the plate. Peley went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Meanwhile, Quebec's corner outfielders provided some punch. LF Royce Consigli hit his fifth home run of the season and RF Asif Shah led the club in production with two RBI on the day. Behind that offensive help and Duda's performance, the Capitales set up RHP Chris Cox who notched his Can-Am League-leading fifth save with a one-two-three ninth.
