Devils Bury Bruins, 4-3

LOWELL, Mass. - The Lowell Devils (36-26-5-6) came from behind twice to beat the Providence Bruins (40-30-1-3) 4-3 on Friday night at Tsongas Arena in front of the largest crowd of the season.

Lowell was behind the eight ball early in the game, as the Bruins dominated the play and staked themselves to a 2-0 lead. ! T.J. Trevelyan potted a pair of goals at 4:41 and 9:46 of the first to jump out to the advantage. But it didn't last. Lowell scored twice in a span of under four minutes late in the frame to tie it up. Chris Minard scored his 28th of the year at 14:45 to cut the lead in half. At 18:10, Mike Mottau scored his first of the season, on the power play, to knot the game at 2-2.

In the second stanza the Bruins regained the lead. David Krejci notched his 29th of the season at 9:48 to make it 3-2 Providence. Both goaltenders saw their share of work in the period - Jordan Parise for the Devils and Hannu Toivonen for the Bruins. Lowell outshot the Bruins 13-12 in the frame, and again tied it up late. Grant Marshall scored his eighth of the season at ! 17:12 to even it up heading into the dressing room.

The Devils took their first lead of the night at 5:26, with David Clarkson finding the top shelf on the power play for his 18th of the season. Parise did the rest in goal. He stopped 18 third period shots, and 42 in the game, to pick up his 16th victory of the year. The Devils finished 2-for-3 on the power play, and improved to 5-1-1-1 against Providence on the season.

The win moved the Devils into a temporary tie with the Worcester Sharks for fourth place in the Atlantic Division, just one point behind Providence for third. The Sharks match at Houston was in progress at press time.

The Devils head to Providence on Sunday to wrap up their home-and-home weekend set; game time is 4:05 p.m. They travel to Manchester on Friday and return home to host the Bruins again on Saturday, April 7th at 7:05 p.m. All Devils games can be heard live on WCAP 980 AM with the Voice of the Devils, Ryan Johnston.
