Hershey Bears News Release

HERSHEY takes on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers Saturday night at 7:00 p.m., with the BEARS hoping to once again take control of first place in the hotly contested East Division standings. With a win tonight over Bridgeport and an Albany win in regulation over Norfolk at Times Union Center, the BEARS would hold sole possession of first place with eight games remaining.

Friday night at Wachovia Arena, the BEARS posted an impressive 3-0 shutout win over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Kip Brennan scored the game-winning goal late in the second period, and Frederic Cassivi picked up his third shutout of the season. The win gave the BEARS a four-point lead over the third place Penguins with a game in hand on the flightless fowl. Wilkes-Barre is off on Saturday night, while the BEARS host the Sound Tigers and Norfolk plays at Albany. Elsewhere in the East Division Saturday, the Philadelphia Phantoms will travel to Binghamton to face the Senators.

The BEARS will conclude the club's March schedule Saturday night, with HERSHEY posting a 9-1-1-1 record this month to date. Bruce Boudreau's club previously won six straight games from December 23-31, but has not won seven games in a row in 2006-07.
