Southwest Michigan Devil Rays News Release
The Southwest Michigan Devil Rays dropped their fourth game in a row with a final score of 2-0 in the first of a four-game set against Lansing.
Jeff Kamrath took the mound for the Rays and failed to get his first win. Kamrath was very impressive in his sixth outing for the Baby Rays. He went six innings and fanned seven, allowing four hits and one earned run. In Kamrath's six outings for the Rays, he has only had one run of support from his teammates.
The Rays were stagnant at the plate a day after getting 12 hits. Today they registered four hits and, after John Matulia's leadoff double in the first inning, they failed to go past first base.
Aaron Walker pitched the seventh and eighth innings and had a perfect line other than one walk. Greg Dupas came in and tossed the ninth inning, allowing two hits and one earned run.
With the win, Lansing remains a half game ahead of West Michigan for first place in the Eastern Division. Southwest Michigan has lost four in a row and dropped to 25-25. The last time the Rays were .500 was when they were 14-14 on May 5th.
The Rays and Lugnuts square off again on Tuesday. Every Tuesday night at C.O. Brown Stadium is Red Hot Chicago Dime Dog Night. Make sure you clean out the couch cushions because until the end of the 5th inning you can get a Red Hot Chicago Hot Dog for only 10-cents. It is also NASCAR Night featuring Michigan International Speedway ticket giveaways. The MIS show and pace cars will be on display. AAA will have their race simulator and show car on hand. Giveaways will also include Ricky Rudd signed hero card, a Jeff Burton signed mini car, and a Reed Sorenson signed program for three lucky fans. NASCAR Night is brought to you by WIN 98.5, Battle Creek Enquirer, MIS and AAA.
