Destroyers announce roster

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Destroyers have announced their 21-man active roster for Sunday's season opening game against the Grand Rapids Rampage on Huntington Field at Nationwide Arena. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. To meet the roster limit, the Destroyers made the following moves.

The team acquired kicker Mark Lewis from Las Vegas in exchange for future considerations over the weekend. Lewis spent the 2005 season with the Gladiators and was a member of the Detroit Fury in 2004. In his career, Lewis has made 172-of-203 extra points and 25-of-45 field goals.

The practice squad will consist of AFL veterans, wide receiver/defensive backs Carl Bond and Ira Gooch as well as rookie wide receiver/defensive back B.J. Barre and rookie kicker Luis Berlanga. The team also placed the following players on the injured reserve list: fullback/linebacker Chris Browning, offensive specialist Carlos Johnson as well as offensive/defensive linemen Brad Greetis and John Culp. Wide receiver/defensive back Hugh Smith was waived.

The 2006 roster consists mainly of Arena Football League veterans, including four players returning from the 2005 team. The 2006 roster is below:

In addition, high school and college students (23 years and under) with a valid student ID may purchase a specially priced $7 ticket beginning two hours before each home game at the Nationwide Arena Ticket Office only.

Individual tickets may also be purchased at the Nationwide Arena Ticket Office, at all Ticketmaster Ticket Centers, or by phone at (614) 431-3600. Tickets are also available at the Blue Jackets Zones located at Chiller Dublin, Chiller Easton and Chiller North. All tickets are subject to service charges and facility fees.
