Soul make roster moves, opening game roster set

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia announced the 23 players that will make up the team's roster for their season opener this Sunday, January 29 when they host the Tampa Bay Storm at the Wachovia Center. The Soul released WR/LB Aaron Boone, OS Michael Coleman, OS Anthony Bright, OS Carlos Perez, quarterback James McPherson, OL/DL Mario Branch OL/DL Jerome Nichols, DS Tony Okanlawon, FB/LB Jeff Cogell, FB/LB Chris Robinson, FB/LB Joe Hollister, FB/LB Darnell Small and WR/DB Dennard Wilson. The Soul made two separate trades over the weekend sending WR/DB Chris Brown to the Grand Rapids Rampage and acquiring WR/DB Yardon Brantley (6'0", 195, Duquesne) from the San Jose SaberCats. Both ends of the trades were for future considerations.

The Soul also placed three players on injured reserve including OL/DL Matt Zielinski, OL/DL Cecil Caldwell and DS Clarence Curry. With the transactions, the Soul's active roster is currently at 23 players.

The Soul kickoff their third season in the AFL on January 29, 2006 when they host the Tampa Bay Storm at the Wachovia Center. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. Season tickets for the Soul's 2006 season are on sale now. Tickets start as low as $96.
