Tri-City Americans News Release
KENNEWICK, WA - The Americans wrapped up a difficult stretch of four games in five days today at the Toyota Center. With a shortened bench the Americans fell to the Blazers 6-1.
Tri-City scratched seven players due to injury tonight. They were left with sixteen forwards and Mason Dunsford as their lone goaltender for the game.
The Blazers, who clinched the B.C. Division title last night, opened scoring 9:56 into the game with a goal from Ryan Hughes. The Americans held Kamloops' lead at one into the second period.
Dunsford stopped 33 of 39 shots faced from the Blazers tonight.
Kamloops added a goal from Connor Zary at 3:38 and another from Max Martin on the power play at 4:53 before the Americans could reply.
Sasha Mutala scored the Americans' only goal of the night off a shot from the left circle on the power play. The Colorado Avalanche prospect leads the Americans with 10 power play goals this season.
Logan Stankoven and Ryan Hughes added even strength goals to extend Kamlooops' lead to 5-1. With 1:30 remaining Kyrell Sopotyk scored on a shorthanded breakaway, assisted by Montana Onyebuchi, to finalize their 6-1 victory.
Score: 6-1 KAM
Shots: 39-13 KAM
