
Dayton's Bullpen Shuts Out Devil Rays

Southwest Michigan Devil Rays News Release
The Southwest Michigan Devil Rays lost to the Dayton Dragons Sunday afternoon by a score of 3-0. The D-Rays couldn't handle the Dragons bullpen and only mustered two hits.
Wade Davis was business as usual but picked up hit first loss of the season. Davis pitched 6.1 innings allowing four hits and one unearned run with nine strikeouts. With the loss, Davis climbs back to second in the Midwest League for strikeouts and he lowered his ERA to 0.94.
Dayton starter, Travis Wood, went toe-to-toe with Davis as he only gave up one hit to the Rays in 5.1 innings of work. Wood struck out seven and walked three.
Dayton's leadoff man, Mike Griffin, hit a two run homer off of Chris Kelly in the top of the eighth inning to put the Dragons up 3-0. Kelly pitched 1.2 innings and served up three hits and two earned runs.
The Southwest Michigan Devil Rays and Dayton Dragons will square off again Monday morning with an 11:05 am start time. It is Education Day and kids from area schools will join the Devil Rays for a day of fun. Jumping Jack will perform to entertain the kids courtesy of Battle Creek Shopper and Q-106.5 FM.
