
Davisson Brothers to Play at Park

Charleston, WV (August 25, 2010) - The West Virginia Power announced today that local favorites, the Davisson Brothers Band, will play at Appalachian Power Park for the unveiling of the new Power mascot on Tuesday, August 31st. The band will perform a special version of their hit song "Big City Hillbilly" during the mid-game unveiling.
"The new mascot will be the face of our franchise and some very exciting initiatives of which we're about to embark," said Executive Vice President of The West Virginia Power Andy Milovich. "He will embody the spirit of West Virginia and become the central focus of our marketing efforts and in-park entertainment. The Davisson Brothers Band has entertained thousands of fans at Appalachian Power Park over the last couple of years and we're very excited to be a part of their success story. Their music speaks to the people of the Mountain State and we couldn't think of anyone we'd rather develop an anthem for the introduction of our new mascot. The adaptation of `Big City Hillbilly' is a high energy song that speaks to the essence of our new character and our community. We're very thankful for their participation."
The new character will be the center piece of the soon to be launched West Virginia Power Street Team presented by CAMC. "We will unveil some aspects of our street team and the plans for the character at his introduction the 31st," said Milovich. "We plan to utilize the Street Team and character to tackle some very pressing issues in our community and utilize the power of baseball to influence positive change in our community."
The Davisson Brothers Band will also perform in the Power Alley Grill for a Post-Game Happy Hour. Happy Hour will begin at 9:00 PM in the Power Alley Grill with $1.00 12-ounce draft beers. Admission to Happy Hour is free with the purchase of a game ticket or $5.00 at the door.
