KANNAPOLIS, N.C - Behind a six-strikeout performance in seven innings of work on the mound, Davis Martin led the Intimidators to a 3-0 win Thursday night against the Augusta GreenJackets (0-1, 36-33).

After two strikeouts for Martin (W, 4-6) in the second inning, Michael Hickman cranked a 411-foot home run (4) to right-center off Gregory Santos (L, 0-3), the eighth overall prospect in the San Francisco Giants organization.

Working around a two-out triple in the third inning, Martin notched two more strikeouts in the fourth inning and one in the fifth to send the game to the sixth, 1-0.

Following a pitching change that brought Keith Weisenberg in for Santos, Ian Dawkins doubled (22) on the first pitch of his at-bat down the right field line with no outs. Three pitches later and on an 0-2 pitch, Lenyn Sosa doubled (22) down the right field line as well, scoring Dawkins for Kannapolis' second run.

Up 2-0, Corey Zangari singled on a line drive into right-center field to score Sosa, giving the Intimidators a 3-0 lead through six innings.

Martin capped off his six-strikeout performance with a strikeout to end the seventh inning, proving to be his 99th pitch of the ball game.

J.B. Olson and Lane Ramsey (S, 4) held down the fort for Martin and the Intimidators in the eighth and ninth innings, giving Kannapolis a 1-0 start to the second half.

Kannapolis (1-0, 29-40) will send out LHP Taylor Varnell (3-3, 3.61 ERA) against Augusta's RHP Blake Rivera (4-4, 3.25 ERA) Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at Intimidators Stadium supported by Atrium Health.
