Former Red Wings great Darren McCarty to visit the K-Wings on December 20th Fans can meet and get autographs from the four-time Stanley Cup Champion
Kalamazoo, MI- One of the most beloved and hard-nosed Detroit Red Wings of all-time, Darren McCarty, will be making a special appearance at Wings Stadium during the Kalamazoo Wings 7:30 p.m. contest on Friday, December 20th versus the Toledo Walleye.
A four-time Stanley Cup winner (1997, 1998, 2002 and 2008) with the Detroit Red Wings, McCarty will be signing autographs and meeting with fans starting at 6:30 p.m. on December 20th.
During the 1997 Stanley Cup Finals versus the Philadelphia Flyers, McCarty's goal in game four proved to be the cup clinching tally.
Besides the Red Wings, McCarty played two seasons with the Calgary Flames.
The appearance on December 20th won't be the first time the NHL veteran has visited Vanrick Drive. During the 2007-08 season, McCarty played against the K-Wings as a member of the Flint Generals.
A second-round (49th overall) selection of the Red Wings in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft, McCarty posted 288 points (127 goals, 288 assists) and 1,477 minutes in penalties in his 758 NHL game career.
Individual-game tickets for this game, as well as the entire K-Wings 2013-14 season will go on-sale in early October.
Season and flexi-plan tickets for the upcoming 40th Anniversary season of K-Wings hockey are currently on sale at the K-Wings front office. Fans can purchase their tickets during regular business hours by calling a K-Wings Ticket Representative at (269) 743-6011.
The K-Wings 40th Anniversary season will commence on Saturday, October 19th at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana against the Evansville IceMen. Kalamazoo will begin the home portion of their schedule a week later. On Saturday, October 26th the K-Wings and IceMen will face-off at Wings Stadium for Kalamazoo's home opener, during the 10th Annual Orange Ice Game. Fans are encouraged to dress in costumes and participate in Halloween festivities.
