Wranglers Add Jeff Maxwell, Jeremy Fisher to Hockey Ops Staff
September 24, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers, along with Head Coach and General Manager Mike Madill, announced Monday that Jeremy Fisher has been named the team's new head athletic trainer and Jeff Maxwell has returned as the team's equipment manager.
"As a first-year coach, I knew I wanted an equipment manager who had been through the grind of the ECHL," said Madill. "Jeff was here when I was a player, and his positive, hardworking attitude fits in perfectly."
"Jeremy is a first-year head athletic trainer, but already has a huge amount of experience. He's worked with the Hershey Bears (of the American Hockey League), and we're very happy that our players will have a guy like him keeping them healthy," said Madill.
Fisher spent the past four years at Maryland SportsCare and Rehab, and was assigned to serve the Hershey Bears as the assistant athletic trainer and rehab coordinator from 2011-13. This past season, he pulled double-duty and acted as the assistant athletic director and athletic trainer to St. John's Catholic Prep as well. Originally from Hamburg, Pa., Fisher earned his bachelor's degree in health science from Lock Haven University, and worked as the graduate assistant athletic trainer at Villanova University while obtaining his master's degree in public administration.
"The idea of coming to Vegas and working with Coach Madill and this young, driven staff was pretty much a no-brainer," said Fisher. "I'm excited to be part of the Wranglers and the upcoming season."
Maxwell has worked as an equipment manager in pro hockey for the past 10 years, two of which (2009-11) were spent with the Wranglers. He left the team in 2011 to serve in the same capacity for the ECHL's Utah Grizzlies. Before the ECHL, Maxwell gained experience volunteering with the AHL's now-defunct Cincinnati Mighty Ducks for two seasons, and acted as assistant equipment manager to the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals on their way to the Calder Cup Finals in 2006.
"It's been a long time since I was this excited for the beginning of a hockey season," said Maxwell. "I'm looking forward to the season with one goal in mind - bring the Kelly Cup to Las Vegas."
The Wranglers open their eleventh season of hockey in Las Vegas on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 7:05 p.m. against the Utah Grizzlies.
Season tickets for the Wranglers' 11th season are on sale now. The Wranglers offer flexible payment options on all plans, and 2013-14 packages start at just $200.
