Sacramento River Cats News Release

WEST SACRAMENTO - The Sacramento River Cats (23-26) came back to tie the game in the eighth, but fell to the Albuquerque Isotopes (26-23) 12-2 after a 10-run ninth inning by the visitors.

Lefty Daniel Camarena was impressive in his Pacific Coast League debut after being released by the New York Yankees and subsequently signed by the San Francisco Giants this week. Camarena allowed just one run in six innings on three hits while striking out six batters in his first start with Sacramento.

The River Cats offense was held scoreless until the seventh inning when Chase d'Arnaud smashed a solo home run to left field to cut Albuquerque's lead to 2-1. An inning later, Hunter Pence came through with a two-out RBI single to tie the game at two apiece. The Isotopes caught fire in the ninth inning, however, putting up ten runs for a 12-2 final.

The River Cats take on the Isotopes again on Saturday and welcome a special guest back to Raley Field. Three-time World Champion Madison Bumgarner is expected to make his first start of 2018, and will face off against right-hander Antonio Senzatela (2-0, 2.57). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. Catch all of the action live online at rivercats.com, on the MiLB First Pitch app, and on the air on Money 105.5 FM.

Additional Notes

- Camarena's six strikeouts and three hits tie his season-highs for 2018 from May 1 when he played for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

- d'Arnaud's seven home runs this season are the most for a middle-infielder in the Pacific Coast League, and ties his career-high for home runs in a season.

- With his eighth inning RBI, Pence has recorded a hit in 13 of his last 14 games. He is batting .362 during that that stretch with 12 RBI and six runs scored.
