SALT LAKE CITY - A pair of homers in the fifth inning, one by Jabari Blash and another by Rymer Liriano, gave the Bees plenty of breathing room and propelled Salt Lake to an 9-6 victory over the Reno Aces Friday night at Smith's Ballpark.

The Bees were already leading 5-4 before the powerful fifth, but the duo of dingers proved to provide the necessary insurance to give Salt Lake the series-opening victory. Blash's blast was his 15th of the season, which leads the Pacific Coast League. Liriano's came just two batters later, as he belted his fifth dinger in his last six games.

Salt Lake starter Ivan Pineyro threw five and one third innings, allowing four earned runs on eight hits to earn the win. Jake Jewell finished off the game to earn the save. Aces starter Bradin Hagens was credited with the loss.

The two clubs will face off again Saturday night at 6:35 at Smith's Ballpark. It will be a special night for many as the club will celebrate Military Night to honor those who have bravely served our country. Current and former members of the armed forces with a valid ID will receive a free pair of tickets to the game. Additional information can be found at slbees.com.
