DES MOINES, IA - A David Bote bomb in the seventh inning pushed Iowa to a 2-1 lead and the bullpen closed the door to keep the score intact as the I-Cubs (18-29) secured a victory over the New Orleans Baby Cakes (23-26), Saturday at Principal Park.

New Orleans scored the game's only run through six and a half on three-straight singles from Rafael Ortega, Cristhian Adames and Cito Culver, but that would be the only scoring the Baby Cakes managed.

Iowa was held to three hits through five, but made contact when it counted. Mark Zagunis led off the seventh with a single before he and Jacob Hannemann switched places on the bases with a fielder's choice. On a 1-2 count, Bote connected for his team-leading seventh homer of the season to push Iowa to a 2-1 lead. It was his second go-ahead home run in four games.

Alec Mills gave Iowa a quality start, spinning six frames and limiting the Baby Cakes to one run on eight hits and two walks while fanning four. Shae Simmons and Anthony Bass made up the scoreless relief effort with Simmons (1-0) earning the win and Bass coming away with the save.

Ryan Court tabbed Iowa's only multi-hit game with a 2-for-3 night.

Iowa and New Orleans play a 1:08 game tomorrow at Principal Park. Promotions include Pedal to the Park, Family 4 Pack, Kids Run the Bases Postgame, Knothole Gang and Food Pantry. For more information or tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com.
