Fresno Grizzlies News Release
A crowd of 8,303 people saw Cy Sneed and the Fresno Grizzlies (29-20) shutout the El Paso Chihuahuas (24-25) 5-0 Friday night from Chukchansi Park. Sneed (5-2) earned the win after twirling eight scoreless innings on 104 pitches. He faced two over the minimum, fanning seven. It was the fourth start where Sneed didn't allow a run and his first without walking a batter.
Fresno bombarded the scoreboard with three runs in the bottom of the first. Garrett Stubbs led off the inning with a longball to right. It was his first homer of the season. Then, AJ Reed destroyed a pitch to right-center. The two-run shot was his team-leading ninth blast of the season. It was also Reed's 58thcareer home run in a Fresno uniform, tying him for fifth in franchise history.
Stubbs produced a 4-0 lead with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second.
Drew Ferguson (2-for-3) added to the advantage in the bottom of the sixth when he doubled down the left field line, plating Jon Kemmer.
Up 5-0, Reymin Guduan sealed the victory with a perfect ninth, lowering his WHIP to 1.14 and batting average versus him to .136.
Cody Bohanek completed his first Triple-A multi-hit night for the Grizzlies. Tyler White's on-base streak ended at 56 games (since 2017) in the win.
Chihuahuas' starter Walker Lockett (2-5) suffered the loss after seven innings of work. He scattered seven hits, five runs (earned), walking three and punching out three.
Both teams continue the series with game two of five Saturday night from Chukchansi Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PT with pre-game starting at 6:45 PT on milb.streamguys1.com/fresnogrizzlies.
