JUPITER , Fla. (June 5, 2015) - Travis d'Arnaud and Dilson Herrera combined for five hits in their rehab assignments to help the St. Lucie Mets defeat the Palm Beach Cardinals 5-3 on Friday at Roger Dean Stadium.

d'Arnaud lined a two-out, two-run single up the middle in the second inning to put the Mets ahead 3-0. He went 2 for 4 in four plate appearances as the DH.

Herrera played second base for seven innings and went 3 for 4 at the dish with three singles.

The Cardinals scraped across a run in the second and another in the third to cut the Mets lead to 3-2. The game stayed that scored until Dominic Smith ripped a two-out RBI double in the ninth to make it 4-2. Amed Rosario followed with a run-scoring single to give the Mets a 5-2 lead.

The Cardinals scored a run off of Akeel Morris in the bottom of the ninth but Morris struck out C.J. McElroy to end the game and record his 10th save. It was the sixth six-out save for Morris, who has allowed just two runs in his last 22 innings.

Mets starter Miller Diaz struggled with his command and walked five batters for the second consecutive start. However, he buckled down to limit the Cardinals to three hits and two runs in five innings. Diaz is 3-1 in his last four starts.

Rob Kaminsky took the loss for the Cardinals. The Mets tagged him for eight hits and three runs, one earned, in five innings.

The Mets pounded out 13 hits in the game. Rosario and Colton Plaia had two hits apiece. In his first game off the DL, Victor Cruzado singled and scored a run. He last played on May 8.

The double for Smith was his 10th in his last 11 games. He leads the FSL with 19 total doubles.

The Mets (28-27) snapped a two-game losing streak. They'll look for the series victory over the Cardinals (25-30) when the teams meet in the rubber game on Saturday at Roger Dean Stadium. First pitch is at 5:35 p.m. The game can be heard on www.stluciemets.com.
