CHESTER, Pa. - The Philadelphia Union took on Toronto FC at home Wednesday night at Subaru Park. The team earned all three points after a 3-0 win. The Boys in Blue got off to a fast start in the first half. Jakob Glesnes opened up the scoring with a curling header from a corner kick from Daniel Gazdag in the 12th minute. Later, after being brought down by Toronto's goalkeeper, Sergio Santos earned the team a penalty kick. Daniel Gazdag stepped up to the penalty spot and fired it into the back of the net for his first career MLS goal. Three minutes later, the Union scored again when Santos found himself on another breakaway, slotting it past the goalkeeper for his fourth goal of the MLS regular season. Martinez earned his first assist of the season with his pass to Santos. Andre Blake was needed early in the second half. Toronto was awarded a penalty in the 50th minute, but Blake would make a diving save. For the rest of the half, the Union saw the game out, limiting any more chances for Toronto to earn their seventh clean sheet of the regular season. With the draw, the Union now have 28 points and move to third place in the Eastern Conference standings.
The Union are on the road next to take on the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, August 8 (6:00 p.m. ET / PHL17).
