Boise Idaho¾ The Idaho Steelheads announced today that goaltenders John Daigneau and Kellen Briggs have inked contracts to play with the defending Kelly Cup Championship team.

"John proved he could play in this league and with a year of professional experience, we look forward to seeing what he can do this season," said Head Coach Derek Laxdal. "He, along with Kellen, who had a proven NCAA career, should make a successful tandem for us between the pipes."

Daigneau, 6'4" and 200-pounds, ended his rookie season with a 5-6-0 record as back up to ECHL Playoff MVP Steve Silverthorn. The 25-year-old recorded a 3.02 goals-against average and a .887 save percentage, and notched his first professional shutout stopping 23 shots in a 1-0 win over Fresno on April 27th. Daigneau protected the net to a 25-12-2 career record. In 2006, Daigneau earned the John Tudor Memorial Cup as the team's most valuable player.

Briggs, 24, served his senior year at the University of Minnesota as an assistant captain, the first goalie to be named one by the team since Brad Shelstad in 1973. He had been a starting goalie with the Golden Gophers since his freshman year, and in 2005-06 he was named to the WCHA All-Academic Team and the Dodge Holiday Classic All-Tournament Team. Briggs is a 5'11" and 190-pounder who hails from Colorado Springs.
