Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that the team has agreed to terms with University of Calgary center Alex Lalonde.

Lalonde, 24, finished a three-year stint with the University of Calgary Dinos posting 39 points (23g-16a) in 83 regular season games. His best season in the league (CIS) was his 2004-05 rookie season, in which he scored 20 points and notched 138 penalty minutes in 28 regular season games, and led the team in plus/minus (+10).

"Alex has a lot of determination and strength, and is a tenacious forechecker," Head Coach Mark Morrison said. "We welcome him in his first professional effort."

The 6-foot, 190-pound native of Newmarket, Ontario helped capture the Canadian Junior Championship in 2004 with the Aurora Tigers (OPJHL), having earned 27 points (11g-16a) in 24 regular season games. Prior to the championship year, he spent one and a half seasons with the Owen Sound Attack (OHL) and one and a half seasons at Notre Dame University (CCAA).
