D'Agostino Assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - It was announced today that defenseman Nick D'Agostino has been assigned by the Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL) to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton from the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL). In addition, defenseman Barry Goers has been released from his professional tryout agreement (PTO).

D'Agostino, 23, has appeared in 25 games this season for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, registering one goal, six assists, and 11 penalty minutes. Assigned to Wheeling on Jan. 8, the rookie defenseman recorded one assist during his four-game stint with the Nailers. A native of Bolton, Ontario, D'Agostino previously played for Cornell, skating for four seasons with the Big Red and compiling 72 points (25g-47a) and 80 PIM in 132 games.

Originally signed to a PTO on Dec. 13, Goers skated in seven games for the Penguins, collecting five points (1g-4a) and two PIM. On Jan. 5, he scored his first AHL goal in a 4-1 victory over the Binghamton Senators. The 27-year old, fourth-year pro has also posted one goal, four assists and two penalty minutes in 10 games for Wheeling this year.
