Grand Rapids Griffins News Release
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday recalled right wing Tomas Jurco from the Grand Rapids Griffins and reassigned center Louis-Marc Aubry from the ECHL's Toledo Walleye to their AHL affiliate.
Detroit's 1st choice (35th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Jurco, 21, leads the Griffins in scoring and ties for 11th in the league with 32 points (13-19 - 32) in his second professional season, including his first professional hat trick against the Rockford IceHogs on Nov. 15. A native of Kosice, Slovakia, Jurco made his NHL debut on Dec. 15 in Detroit's 3-0 loss to Tampa Bay, becoming the 138th Griffins alumnus to play in the NHL. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound right wing tallied his first NHL point with a goal on Dec. 17 versus Anaheim and has generated three points (2-1 - 3), 14 shots on goal and two PIM in seven games with the Wings.
Aubry, 22, has appeared in four contests with the Griffins this season, posting five PIM. The 6-foot-4, 213-pound forward has skated in 130 career games with Grand Rapids since 2011, registering 28 points (9-19 - 28) and 104 PIM. A native of Arthabaska, Quebec, Aubry set a career-high 60 PIM in 64 games and notched 12 points (4-8 - 12) during the 2012-13 season, when he won the Calder Cup with the Griffins. He has also played in 18 games with the ECHL's Toledo Walleye this season, notching 14 points (7-7 - 14) and 10 PIM.
The Griffins will host the Chicago Wolves on Wednesday at 7 p.m., before battling the Abbotsford Heat at Van Andel Arena in consecutive tilts on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.
Saturday's game against Abbotsford will lead into the 12th annual Great Skate at Rosa Parks Circle, which features at least one player skating with fans for 24 consecutive hours from 10 p.m. on Saturday until 10 p.m. on Sunday.
