D.C. United News Release

Washington, D.C. (January 12, 2012) - D.C. United announced today the club has selected three players in the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft. The club drafted midfielder Lance Rozeboom (2nd round / 26th overall), defender Charles Rodriguez (3rd round / 45th overall), and midfielder/forward Matthew Kuhn (4th round / 64th overall) via teleconference this afternoon.

"We were pleased today to be able to draft Lance, Charles and Matt," said United General Manager Dave Kasper. "Each player has unique qualities and we look forward to getting them into preseason camp with the team to fight for a roster spot."

Rozeboom was a key member of the University of New Mexico's undefeated 2011 season. The 6-foot 1-inch midfielder started each of the team's 22 games and collected three goals and two assists as the team finished 18-0-4. After starting six of the 16 games he played in during his freshman year, Rozeboom started every game from his sophomore season through the end of his senior campaign - a total of 57 consecutive games. He finished his career at New Mexico with six goals and five assists in 78 games (68 starts).

Rodriguez was a defensive stalwart for the Charlotte 49ers, starting all but one of 83 games during a four-year career. Despite playing in the back line for the majority of his collegiate career, finished four years with six goals and four assists. As a senior, Rodriguez served as the team's captain and was named a 1st Team NSCAA All-American after helping his team to the National Championship game for the first time in school history. In 2010, he was named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year and also scored three goals - all of which were game-winners. After his freshman year in 2008, Rodriguez was named to the A-10 All-Rookie Team and was also named as the Eagles' Defensive MVP.

Kuhn started each of the 20 matches he played for Drake University during the 2011 season, leading the team with 11 goals, registering four assists, and earning All-Missouri Valley Conference first team honors. He also became the fifth Bulldog to earn first-team All-MVC Scholar Athlete accolades three times, being honored in 2008, 2009 and 2011. Sidelined for the entire 2010 campaign due to a preseason knee injury, Kuhn started all 25 games played for the Bulldogs in 2009, tallying five goals and seven assists. He started all 19 matches played during his sophomore season, contributing three goals and a team-best six assists. As a freshman, he was the second-leading scorer on the squad with six goals, while leading the team with six assists. Kuhn was also named to the MVC All-Freshman squad.
