Toronto FC News Release

Toronto FC selected five players in Major League Soccer's Supplemental Draft on Tuesday afternoon. Midfielders Michael Green, Arthur Ivo and Michael Mazzullo were selected along with defenders Nickardo Blake and Mykell Bates.

"We made the five selections today thinking about depth in certain positions and what may be required this season," said Toronto FC Director of Team and Player Operations Earl Cochrane. "The players impressed our coaching staff during the NCAA season and at the combine. We will be speaking with the players ahead of training camp to determine the best option for both sides."

Green, 22, is a midfielder from the University of New Mexico. In four seasons with the Lobos, Green started in 67 games and scored 11 goals. In 2010 he was named to the All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation First Team.

Blake, 22, is a defender from the University of Connecticut. He transferred to the Huskies after beginning his collegiate career at East Central College. At Connecticut, Blake started in all 25 games his team played in this past season.

Bates, 21, spent the past four seasons at Santa Clara playing in 65 games for the Broncos. In 2011, Bates was named to the NSCAA All-Far West Region Third Team and to the All-West Coast Conference First Team.

Ivo, 22, is a midfielder from Southern Methodist University. With the Mustangs, Ivo played in 71 games and scored 24 goals. This past season Ivo was named to the All-Conference USA First Team, NSCAA All-Midwest Region First Team and Soccer America MVP's Second Team.

Mazzullo, 21 is a midfielder from Columbia University. The New York native played in 66 games in his four seasons for the Lions and scored four goals.
