April 30, 2014 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
D.C. United News Release
Washington, D.C. (April 30, 2014) - D.C. United and presenting partner Leidos will celebrate Armed Forces Week together for the first time by participating in several community events. Through a series of activities on each of the five days leading up to Armed Forces Night, which will take place at D.C. United's home match vs. Montreal on May 17 at 7 p.m., the club and Leidos will honor the proud men, women and families of the U.S. Armed Forces for their dedication and service to the country.
"We are extremely excited to pay tribute to our troops for their commitment and service to our country. Throughout Armed Forces Week, D.C. United and Leidos have scheduled daily events that will allow our troops and their families to engage with the team and its fans. While we can never replicate what they have done for us, this is our way to give back to them," said D.C. United Chief Operating Officer, Tom Hunt. "We welcome all those who currently serve or who have served to come to RFK Stadium on May 17th and be part of the festivities."
"We're grateful for any opportunity to give back to those who serve our country and we're proud to work with D.C. United to honor members of the military and their families," said John Jumper, Leidos Chief Executive Officer.
Media interested in attending Tuesday's open training should contact and RSVP with TJ Scholl at tscholl@dcunited.com or 910-389-1607. For more information about Armed Forces Week, please click here.
