Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
THIS PAST WEEK:
About Sunday Afternoon in Kalamazoo: After the Cyclones took an early 1-0 lead, the Wings scored six unanswered goals to defeat the Cyclones by a 6-1 final score in front of 3,468 at Wings Stadium. Mathieu Aubin tallied the lone goal in the game as Cincinnati finished its season series against Kalamazoo with a record of 5-7-2.
About Saturday Night vs. Wheeling: Thanks to some late game defensive heroics and a two-goal night by Anthony Luciani, the Cyclones hung on to beat the Wheeling Nailers by a 5-3 final score in front of 4,990 at U.S. Bank Arena. The victory extended Cincinnati's winning streak to three games and shrunk its magic number to clinch a playoff spot to seven.
About Friday Night in Wheeling: Brian Foster turned aside a season-high 43 saves to earn his third shutout of the season as the Cyclones blanked the Nailers by a 3-0 final score in front of 3,081 at WesBanco Arena. It was the fourth time this year that the Cyclones were able to shutout an opponent.
About Wednesday Night vs. Chicago: Matt Sisca and Anthony Luciani each had three point games as the Cyclones cruised past the Express by a 4-1 final score in front of 2,528 at U.S. Bank Arena.
SHOTS FROM THE POINT:
The Final Push: It's do or die this week for the Cyclones as they play the final three games of the 2011-12 regular season. After 69 contests played, Cincinnati finds itself in a three-way tie for the eighth and final playoff spot with the Reading Royals and Chicago Express. Jarrod Skalde's team will be in control of its own destiny as it plays two of those last three games against their Windy City rivals. They'll visit the Express on Wednesday before welcoming in Toledo on Friday and Chicago on Saturday for back-to-back home games as the regular year comes to a close.
Eastern Conference Playoff Race: The top eight teams at season's end earn a Kelly Cup Playoff bid.

Home Ice Advantage: This season, Cincinnati has played its best hockey at 100 Broadway. They have amassed a 24-7-0-3 record at U.S. Bank Arena, which is the third-best of any team in the ECHL. Only Alaska and Gwinnett have earned a better home mark. They have outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7-2.8 this year at home and have won four straight games in Downtown Cincinnati.
Number Nine is Number Two: After another solid week on the ice, Cyclones Captain Mathieu Aubin has jumped another notch on the franchise All-Time Scoring List. He now has earned 215 points in a Cyclones jersey, passing Sheldon Gorski for second on the leader board. Only Barrett Ehgoetz earned more tallies for the franchise (289). He is also just two goals away from passing his own single-season high for goals in a season; Aubin currently has 29. If he can reach 31, he would join Sheldon Gorski, Joe Cardarelli, Thomas Beauregard and Jean-Michel Daoust as the only players to have 31+ goals in a single season for the franchise.
