Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
THIS PAST WEEK:
About Saturday Night vs. Chicago: Goaltender Brian Foster only needed to turn aside 17 shots as he led the Cyclones to a 3-0 shutout of the Express in front of 4,571 at U.S. Bank Arena. It was Foster's third-career professional blanking and first of the 2011-12 season. Garrett Wilson, Chris Cahill, and David Leaderer all scored for Cincinnati.
About Friday Night in Kalamazoo: The Wings tallied six unanswered goals as they erased a two-goal deficit and went on to defeat the Cyclones by a 7-3 final in front of 2,686 at Wings Stadium. Maury Edwards, David Leaderer and Mike Pelech each scored goals for Cincinnati. Pelech, Edwards, and Justin Vaive, all notched multi point games.
About Tuesday Night vs. Kalamazoo: Former Cyclone Sam Ftorek posted a three-point night as the Wings earned a 4-2 win over the Cyclones in front of 2,108 at U.S. Bank Arena. It was the first time that Cincinnati had lost a home game in regulation.
SHOTS FROM THE POINT:
Ho, Ho, Ho: This week the Cyclones will play two more games before a four-day Christmas vacation, as they welcome the Kalamazoo Wings and Chicago Express into U.S. Bank Arena beginning Wednesday. Since 2006, the Cyclones are 4-1 in games during the week leading into Christmas. Cincinnati has posted a 4-2-0 record so far this month and are attempting to seal their fourth winning December in the past six seasons. A pair of wins this week would accomplish that feat.
Still Unfriendly Hosts: With a win on Saturday against Chicago, the Cyclones improved to 7-1-0-2 at U.S. Bank Arena this season. They have allowed an ECHL-low 68 goals per game at home while outshooting their opponents by an average of 32-26 per game.
Kill Shots: The Cyclones' penalty kill unit has been especially impressive at home this season, contributing to its strong record at 100 Broadway. Through 10 home tilts, Cincy has extinguished 82.9% of its penalties at U.S. Bank Arena, which ranks seventh-best in the ECHL.
Coors Light Jarrod Skalde Show TONIGHT: Join Head Coach Jarrod Skalde and Voice of the Cyclones Nick Brunker at Gameworks in Newport on the Levee every Monday from 7-8pm! They will chat about all-things-Cyclones and take questions from fans. Admission is FREE and fans can enjoy inexpensive food and drink specials from Gameworks' extensive menu. Tonight, David Leaderer and A.J. Jenks will be on hand as well to sign autographs and meet fans!
