
Cyclones Sign Bill Kinkel and Ryan Van Buskirk

ESTERO, Florida - The 2008 Kelly Cup champion Cincinnati Cyclones announced today that they have signed forward Bill Kinkel and defenseman Ryan Van Buskirk to contracts. The Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators.
Kinkel, 24, is in his fifth professional season having spent last season between Mississippi and Idaho of the ECHL. Bill appeared in 41 games between the clubs and collected a pair of goals and an assist for three points and 133 penalty minutes. Kinkel had been retired as a player, returning to the town where he spent part of the 2006-07 season.
The six-foot-five, 239 pounder from Buffalo, NY was a ninth round draft pick of the New Jersey Devils in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Kinkel has 68 games of American Hockey League experience, having spent part of the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons with Houston. He collected six goals and three assists for nine points and 231 penalty minutes there.
Van Buskirk, 29, is in his ninth professional season having played last season with Florida (ECHL), appearing in 55 games and netting three goals and ten assists for 13 points and 164 penalty minutes. The Cyclones become the tenth team he has played for in his professional career. Earlier this season, Ryan appeared in two games with Gwinnett (ECHL).
The six-foot-two, 215 pounder from Sault Ste. Marie, ONT was originally drafted by Phoenix in the fourth round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. Van Buskirk has 90 games of AHL experience, picking up three goals and eight assists for eleven points and 111 penalty minutes. He spent 111 games over three seasons with the Everblades and tallied six goals and 35 assists for 41 points and 288 penalty minutes.
Kinkel and Van Buskirk practiced with the team this morning and are expected in the lineup for tonight's game at Florida (7:30pm on MAX FM 97.7 and 99.5).
