Brooklyn Cyclones News Release

Wappingers Falls, NY - The Cyclones offensive struggles continued on Saturday night, as they tallied just one hit in a 2-0 loss to the Hudson Valley Renegades. The Cyclones struck out 15 times this evening and now have 71 strikeouts in five games against the 'Gades so far this season.

Rowdey Jordan led off the game with a clean single into right field - Brooklyn's lone base knock of the game - and after Jose Peroza reached on an error and JT Schwartz lifted a fly ball right, allowing Jordan to advance, the Cyclones had runners on the corners with one out. Nic Gaddis then grounded into a 5-4-3 double play to end the threat.

That would be the only time in the game that Brooklyn got a runner to third base. Brooklyn had just three base runners, all courtesy of a walk, over the final eight innings of the game.

While the Brooklyn bats struggled, the Renegades didn't fare much better as Cyclones pitchers allowed just four hits on the night, but Hudson Valley was able to score two unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth that proved to be the difference in the game.

The Cyclones and Renegades will close out their six-game series on Sunday afternoon with RHP Daison Acosta on the mound for Brooklyn. After a league-wide off day on Monday the 'Clones will return to Coney Island and welcome the Bowling Green Hot Rods to Brooklyn for the first time.
