Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
Fairborn, OH -- The Dayton Bombers snapped a 13-game winless streak by defeating the Cincinnati Cyclones 5-3 on Sunday at the Nutter Center.
The loss broke a 2-game win streak for the Cyclones and prevented them from gaining ground in the playoff race.
The Bombers jumped to 3-0 lead on a late first-period power-play goal by Jim Leger, and early second-period power-play goal from Brian Cummings, and a two-on-one conversion from Yann Joseph.
Cincinnati broke the goose egg on the scorebaord when captain Nick Bootland registered his 17th of the season at 18:19 of the second period.
A wide-open third period saw the Cyclones pull within a single goal twice. Rookie defenseman Steve Rodberg notched his first professional goal at 1:06 of the third period to make it 3-2.
Cincinnati also drew close in the game's final minute when Paul Strand scored with 51.6 seconds left in regulation.
The Cyclones host the Reading Royals on Tuesday at U.S. Bank Arena. The game is set for a 7:05 PM opening face-off.
