Dayton Bombers News Release
Five different players scored goals as the Dayton Bombers built a 3-0 lead en route to a 5-3 victory over the Cincinnati Cyclones at the Ervin J. Nutter Center Sunday night to snap the team's 13-game (0-11-2) winless skid.
The Bombers scored their first two goals with the man-advantage. At the tail end of a 5-on-3, Jim Leger deflected Brian Ridolfi's shot into the net with 57 seconds left in the first period to give the Bombers a 1-0 lead. On the ensuing 5-on-4, the Bombers converted 52 seconds into the second stanza when Brian Cummings tipped Tom Nemeth's shot past Marc Kielkucki to make it 2-0. Just 1:53 later, Yann Joseph sent a left-circle blast into the net to put the Bombers in front 3-0. The Bombers never relinquished their lead, though the Cyclones pulled to within one twice. Fred Slukynsky and Jason Deskins also scored for the Bombers. Leger and Nemeth each finished with two assists, while goalie Jayme Platt stopped 28 of 31 shots. The Bombers, who snapped a franchise and ECHL 2002-2003 season-high 13-game winless streak (0-11-2), were a perfect 6-for-6 on penalty kills.
The Dayton Bombers next game will be on Tuesday, March 18 when they host the Trenton Titans for a 6:15 p.m. game.
