
Florida Takes Three of Four Weekend Points

Florida Everblades News Release
The Florida Everblades picked up three out of a possible four points in a pair of games against the Greenville Grrrowl this past week. Florida fell to the Grrrowl 6-5 in a shootout on Friday night but then rebounded to defeat Greenville 3-2 on Saturday night. The Everblades dropped into fourth place in the ECHL's Southeast Division after this week and trail third place Pee Dee by one point. The first place Inferno have three games in hand on Florida and the second place Stingrays and third place Pride both have two games in hand on the Blades. Florida hosts the Greensboro Generals on Monday and Tuesday night at TECO Arena at 7:30 PM. The Everblades then travel to Columbia on Thursday night and South Carolina on Friday and Saturday. The Everblades have already clinched their fifth straight Kelly Cup playoff berth. 'The Gerry Fleming Coaches Show' presented by Stevie Tomato's Sportspage on Sportsradio 770 AM airs on 770 AM from 6:30 - 7:30 PM on Monday nights.
UPCOMING EVENTS/PROMOTIONS AT TECO ARENA: The Everblades battle the Greensboro Generals at 7:30 PM on Monday, March 17th and Tuesday, March 18th at TECO Arena. The Everblades will hold their annual St. Patrick's Day Charity Jersey Auction following Monday's game and the first 3,000 fans through the doors will receive a 2002-03 Everblades trading card pack on Tuesday night. Monday, March 17th vs. Greensboro Generals 7:30 PM/EST
GAME NOTES: The Everblades and Generals will meet for the second time this season. Florida is 0-1-0 against them this season and 0-0-0 at TECO Arena. The Blades were upended by the Generals 5-3 in Greensboro back on November 23rd. Greensboro (35-20-9, 79 pts.) currently ranks in 3rd place in the Northeast Division standings while Florida (33-19-12, 78 pts.) ranks in fourth place in the Southeast. The Generals are 13-11-8 on the road this season and 3-3-4 in their last ten games. Florida holds a 0-2-0 record all-time against the Generals and a 0-1-0 record at TECO Arena. Forward Bryan Richardson leads the team in scoring with 28-35-63. The Generals power play ranks 8th in the ECHL and their penalty kill ranks 3rd.

Thursday, March 20th @ Columbia Inferno 7:05 PM/EST
GAME NOTES: The Everblades and Inferno will meet for the sixth time this season. Florida is 2-3-0 against them this season and 1-2-0 in Columbia. The Blades were blanked by the Inferno 8-0 in Columbia back on Feb 13th. Columbia (44-21-2, 90 pts.) currently ranks in 1st place in the Southeast Division standings. The Inferno are 25-9-0 at home this season and 8-1-1 in their last ten games. Florida holds a 7-5-1 record all-time against the Inferno. Forward Rejean Stringer leads the team in scoring with 30-57-87. Stringer is ranked tied for second on the ECHL scoring list. The Blades defeated the Stingrays 5-2 at TECO Arena back on Feb 4th. South Carolina (38-21-7, 83 pts.) currently ranks in 2nd place in the Southeast Division standings. The Stingrays are 17-12-2 at home this season and 6-2-2 in their last ten games. Florida holds a 23-8-5 record all-time against the Stingrays. Forward Dave Seitz leads the team in scoring with 20-58-78. Seitz is ranked second on the ECHL assist list. The Stingrays power play ranks 5th in the ECHL and their penalty kill ranks 15th.

ECHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINATION: The Everblades ECHL player of the week nomination is forward Brent McDonald. The Olds, Alberta native registered three goals and one assist this past week including a short handed goal on Saturday night.
ECHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK NOMINATION: The Everblades ECHL goaltender of the week nomination is Brian Leitza. Leitza stopped 28 of 30 shots in the Everblades 3-2 win this past Saturday night.
